5 Benefits of Drinking Peppermint Tea

Open my cupboards and out will fall dozens of teas all different flavours and brands. I've literally tried every flavour; Pina Colada, Chamomile, Ginger, fruit etc etc...

But the tea I absolutely swear by is Peppermint! Whether its a bout of IBS, Nausea or just bad digestion, it deals with it all! Basically, it is a herbal tea made with peppermint leaves making it naturally caffeine free.

Here are some more benefits of drinking these magical leaves:

Helps with Sleep:

Okay so it's not going to make you sleep as soon as you've drank a cup. But if you suffer with a noisy tummy when getting into bed, peppermint tea will help to soothe and calm down your internal system. It's also good to drink if you've eaten so much food and feel bloated and horrible!

Makes your breath smell better:

Peppermint is the main flavour in toothpastes all around the world, so it's no big shock that drinking peppermint tea is a good way to solve your bad breath.

Helps you concentrate:

There is a lot of evidence showing that there is a strong connection between peppermint and receptors in the brain linked to memory and visual response. Its mainly the scent of the peppermint that triggers your brain to enhance your cognitive performance such as increasing your memory and alertness.

Soothes your stomach:

Peppermint tea is a brilliant remedy for gas, bloating, constipation and other digestive issues. It has been used for medicinal purposes for thousands of years and even some medical professionals have started using it to treat Irritable Bowel Syndrome.

Relieves menstrual cramps:

We all know the feeling girls, that time of the month comes around and the painful cramps start. But studies have shown that peppermint is good at easing the constricting muscles. The menthol qualities have anti-spasmodic effects and drinking 2-3 cups a day during your period will help to ease the pain massively.
